Man Crush of the Week: Stephen Curry
So my great Beat the Heat hope the Clippers were eliminated. So, as one the foremost wordsmiths of our time Jason-Z once said, “On to the next one.”
And the next one happens to be the Golden State Warriors.
I have lived a couple decades now, and in that time, the Golden State Warriors have been one of the most atrocious things about sports (and still are). It wasn’t until a few years ago I even bothered to figure out where they were actually located. They were that irrelevant.
But now they have Stephen Curry and a ton of other awesome young shooters and they’re super exciting to watch.
Case in point, they played the Spurs in Game 1 to double overtime one-point loss and it felt like they still won. In large because of Steph Curry.
Quick overview on Steph. This playoffs he is averaging 26.5 points, 8.9 assists, 4.3 rebounds a game. Um. That’s really good.
And it’s all the most impressive since he didn’t come out of Game 1 at all. He played all 58 minutes, scoring 44 points with 11 assists and 4 boards. I mean, have you ever tried to do anything for 58 minutes? It’s not easy. Let alone playing incredibly intense professional athletics which consists of basically sprinting and jumping the whole time.
I’m not sure the Warriors have enough to actually beat Miami (assuming Chicago doesn’t first LOL) but it’s hard to rule out a team with Steph Curry and the amount of talent around him capable of getting hot.
Oh god Miami is going to in another title.
Douchebag of the Week: Titus Young
Some people are such big douches you have to truly admire their dedication to being a douche. Titus Young is on to some next level stuff this year.
He was drafted in the first round by the Lions (probably the worst place he could have ended up) two years ago and has just been blazing trails on how not to act as a professional athlete. He’s the Steve Jobs of douchey.
Not only has he punched a teammate, intentionally ran wrong routes, been suspended by his team, cut, signed by another team, cut after 10 days, but then this weekend he decided to really push the limits of human stupidity.
He was arrested after a DUI at 12:01 on Sunday, getting his car impounded. Then, 15 hours later, decided to try to steal his own car from the impoundment lot, getting him arrested for burglary.
Let that sink in for a minute.
The dude tried to steal HIS OWN CAR. Just mind blowing. He’s a Nickelodeon show away from being Amanda Bynes.
On one hand I feel bad for a guy who clearly needs help and isn’t getting it and may never. On the other hand, when someone is a completely terrible person, and something bad happens to them, it sort of makes you feel good that there is some sort of karma in the world for the truly terrible people.
And yet I have a feeling this is all going to be okay for him. You know what’s probably going to happen to Titus? He’s going to get a reality show and make millions. Worse yet, that’s actually something I might watch.
We are screwed.
